Kolsyra and moving to Sweden

Inläggav brewaton » lördag 2017-08-05 14:40

Hej

Sorry for the english, I haven't learned swedish yet.

In January I will be moving to Sweden from Iceland and I have some brewing equipment to take with me
and I was thinking what I should take with me and what to sell.

3x corny kegs (two new and one used)
1x 5kg empty CO2 (kolsyra), a fire extinguisher.

I have other stuff but will most likely take it with me like my pot and such.

But I was wondering about the CO2 tank, should I just sell it or take it with me. Are the tanks expensive?
And where do you buy them and where do you get them filled?

Is that even legal in Iceland? Considering that you can't reccon to get too much for the equipment.

Perhaps you could get something for the CO2 containers given that they are indeed for fire extinguisher use. There is a small difference in that fire extinguisher has a dip tube (because a fire extinguisher needs to discharge solid CO2 instead).

Humlegården Sells 5kg CO2 for about 1600 SEK and new keys for 950 SEK. You can get used keys for about 500-600SEK (as read in another thread). Personally I use soda stream CO2 containers (425g), they cost a bit to purchase, but you get them recharged for about 40SEK at Rusta.

As for where you buy you could check out the shbf wiki, search for "Leverantörer". There's a list of suppliers for ingredients and equipment (some suppliers occur in both).

Don't worry about the language. Swedish should not be that hard for you to learn (and you would get by quite well using English).

Thank you skyking for your answer.

Brewing is illegal in Iceland all together over 2.25%, yes, but it is not something the police is after since
most of homebrewers are only doing it for themeselves.
We even have a festival with homebrew for everyone to drink and no one cares and many politics come also.

But selling brewing equipment is easy here.

Ok good to know about the sodastream. And can I fill my CO2 tank at Rusta also?

No, that's just for soda stream containers. You will need to search a bit more to refill other containers, but then the CO2 is somewhat cheaper.
